Vitamins may not prevent prostate cancer

Recent studies published in the Journal of the American Medical Association and the Journal of the National Cancer Institute refute prior claims vitamins decrease risk of cancers.  Prostate and breast cancer are two common cancers that initial studies suggested vitamin E and others may help prevent malignancy.  These new studies suggest there are no magic vitamins to prevent cancer. As a urologist I encourage my patients to eat healthy, stay in shape and see a general physician in addition to screening for cancer.  Stay tuned for more about prevenion and screening of cancers.
